Blog Post #10

When working on Project 5, I have acquired the skill of making buttons in PowerPoint, which I did not know you could do. I also utilized my PLN to become inspired and find a theme for my PowerPoint. I took a trip to Pinterest and searched for fun games that I thought I may be able to put my own spin on and make an interactive PowerPoint out of it. I found the idea of Roll a Story through a Pinterest post about a game where students would roll the dice and answer questions about a story, based on the number they received. I decided to make it more fit for a PowerPoint by flipping the idea around and creating stories based on the roll of a dice. I liked that this assignment gave me a lot of creative freedoms and had few limits compared to the other projects, but not all of them can work like that. I did not enjoy having to make it as long as I did, but it was not much of a hassle and overall was a fun project. Here is an sample slide of my project:

When reading through my classmates' blogs, I recognized a shared love for creative freedom. I agree on that point, this class gives me various opportunities to take creativity into my own hands rather than make something cut and dry for every assignment and I love it. I also saw recognized that most of my classmates did not favor Diigo, as I also did not, just because it did not seem like something that would be easy to use in the classroom. That may be my own lack of understanding when it comes to Diigo, but like some of my classmates said, the purpose of it is kind of confusing.

Next time I am working on new skills with technology, I hope it will be in advancing my understanding of using excel or google spreadsheets. I feel that this mode of technology will be of great use in future careers and is just a good skill to have as a whole and I would like to learn how to better use it. I can work to ahieve this goal by simply playing around with Excel or I can look into possibly utilizing YouTube or an online service to better learn how to use it and quick ways to be successful when using it. Overall Excel is something I do hope to learn to use better in the future.
