About Me!
My name is Elise, and I am a freshman here at Florida State University. I hope to major in Communication Sciences and Disorders and plan to minor in Education as well as Child Development. I am the older sister to two awesome younger brothers who I would not trade for the world. They both never fail to make me smile and have both helped me become a more responsible person and discover my love for kids. Though I am a busy person, working as a coach and a nanny, my spare time is spent watching movies, reading books, and hanging out with my friends. I love trying new things and am always up for an adventure!
My experience with technology is not extensive, but I do have a history with certain programs and services. When I was younger, I was a part of Future Business Leaders of America and competed as a slideshow and web designer, placing top three several years in a row. I also became certified in PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook through school and have learned to use Canvas and different programs in order to complete assignments and projects in school. This consisted of using things such as Padlet, Notability, Google platforms, and other sources to do my projects and assignments for school.
My personal learning networks that have contributed to my education Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, my teachers, family, and peers. Of these, my teachers and mentors have had the largest impact on my professional development and shaping me into the hard-working student and person that I am today. Online, Pinterest has been my largest contributor to my educational network. I utilize the ability to borrow tips and ideas from others when it comes to projects and writing assignments. I also share different interests and tips of my own with others who follow me. It has helped me accomplish many tasks academically as well as for leisure.
Hi Elise and welcome to blogger! Communication Sciences and Disorders sounds really interesting.
ReplyDeleteI see that you've pretty diverse experiences with technology in educational setting and we'll add to your knowledge and skills in this class. Hope you'll enjoy it all here.
Some people definitely play a major role in our life as you've mentioned! Pinterest is one of the most common tool amongst teachers and we'll be playing with it in future weeks.
Thanks for sharing all these with us! Keep it up. : )
Hi Elise! I use a lot of the same PLNs that you do, including Pinterest and Twitter. I also find them very useful for getting new information and examples for projects.
ReplyDeleteI also think it's very sweet how you talk about your younger brothers. As the youngest child, I would love to hear my siblings talk about me that way :)
Although it's not the same, I wish to work with children with special needs, including those who will utilize speech therapy. I think the work you want to do is really awesome!
Hi Elise!
ReplyDeleteYour major sounds really interesting! I think its so awesome you have something you're passionate about!
I use the same personal learning networks that you do! Pinterest, Twitter, and YouTube definitely led me to more knowledge in different topics that I didn't know before!

Hi Elise! Thank you for sharing about yourself! I love that you will be minoring in education and child development. I thank that you will have a great time with both of these minors and will have a strong background on both topics. I also feel that your certification in PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook will help you out a lot in tis class with completing assignments. We actually share similar PLNs. Although I didn't mention Pinterest in my PLN I do believe that it is a very helpful tool when searching for ideas or inspiration.
